› A Holy Life 11.12.2012

The holy God needs a holy people to fulfil His holy purposes. Jesus Christ is our holiness and through His sacrifice on the cross He has made us into a holy people, those who are set apart by Him for His purposes. This holiness has to be outworked in our lives in practical ways. What does this mean? There follows a number of key points that answer this question. These are the qualities that God wants to see in our lives as His holy children!

Love for God that is expressed in obedience to Him.

Wholehearted consecration to His will.

Living in the fear of the Lord, not wanting to grieve Him in any way.

Seeking God's glory in all things.

Living with complete trust and confidence in Jesus.

Living at one with the Lord in the communion of His presence at all times.

Living a life of watchful prayer.

Being full of praise and adoration for the Lord.

Diligent use of your time.

Standing strong against temptation.

Being devoted to a life of serving God by serving others.

Walking in humility, not judgement.

Living a life of self-denial, taking up your cross to follow Jesus.

Keeping your eyes fixed on Jesus at all times.

Being submitted to the leading of the Holy Spirit as a child of God.

All this presupposes a devotion to the Word of God. The fruit of such a life is to be filled with the peace and joy of the Lord. The closer you walk with the Lord in holiness, the more His power will be seen in your life and the more readily the rivers of living water will flow out of you to bless the lives of others around you.
